Christina’s Platform

I am ecstatic to share with you my partnership with Harbor Habitat for Humanity, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, that is a hand up to low income families that need healthy, safe and affordable housing that not only builds stronger families but stronger communities as well. Harbor Habitat for Humanity isn’t just a construction company for low-income people. It is a Christian organization that builds interest free mortgage homes, builds hope back in poverty stricken areas, and builds families that are building their own futures for generations to come.

My partnership with Harbor Habitat for Humanity began with my platform “Empowering Women to Build.” Having been involved in construction trades for almost 17 years, I saw the difference that knowledge of even basic skills could do for the confidence of a woman. As a construction business owner I also had the financial and personal freedom to be more involved in my community and my children’s lives. It is my belief that empowering women to build and educate themselves in a male dominated field not only builds self-esteem and confidence but also opens the door to various career opportunities. There are fewer than 3% of women in the construction workforce and I plan to change that. This new career for a woman who does not have one would be life changing and that is what I plan to do this year…..change lives! It is my goal to help women, children and families across Michigan through mentoring, educating and empowering them to join the movement and build something!
